The Trojan War

Aphrodite helped to start a terrible war, but she didn't mean to. A goddess made a golden apple and wrote "For the fairest" on it. She threw it where Hera, Athena and Aphrodite could see it. They each claimed that they were the fairest of them all. So decide, they held a beauty contest which was judged by a mortal, Paris. They each offered him a gift (bribe). Hera promised to make him ruler of the world. Athena promised to make him a victorious soldier. Aphrodite promised him the most beautiful women in the world. So he chose Aphrodite as the fairest of them all, and she got to keep the apple. But the problem was the most beautiful woman was already married. Her name was Helen, she was the Queen of Sparta and married ot King Menelaus. When Helen and Paris ran away to Troy, Menelaus was furious and delcared war on Troy.
