Aphrodite & Adonis

Aphrodite was jealous of Myrryha's beauty. So she caused the girl to unite with her father (Cinyrus.) When he found out he was furious so he intended to kill her and the unborn child. Aphrodite felt bad so she turned her into a myrrh tree. She hid the newborn child (Adonis) in a chest and gave it to Persephone to be in charge of, but when she opened it she saw how beautiful he was and refused to give him back. Zeus settled the dispute. Adonis was with Persephone for part of the year, and with Aphrodite for half of the year. (Death & Love, Winter & Summer)
